When Rom Met Com - Witty Feel-Good Movies

Enjoy witty comedies and uplifting movies? Like them in the cinema every now and then? With an optional drink and chat afterwards? Then this is your group :-)

The movies: A very broad range of witty or heart-warming films. From clever to sweet, from indie and arthouse to mainstream, from classics and hidden gems to fresh finds — but always with style. Art and culture in the form of good movies ;-) Usually original-language versions with subtitles. Days, times, and cinemas vary.

After the movie, those who feel like can go somewhere nearby for a drink and a relaxed after-movie chat. Since there are not just movie nights but also daytime screenings, coffee and café lovers as well as cold drinks enthusiasts all get their chance ;-) You don’t need to be a chatty person to come along; introverts are just as welcome as anyone else. We speak English or German, or whatever works for you at the time.

This is a friendly and respectful group. It’s open to long-time Berlin locals as well as those new in town, Germans and expats alike. Bring guests along! The group is set to the "private group" mode so that people who are mainly interested in meeting someone with a pretty profile photo cannot see our profiles. This is a proper old-school Meetup group — it’s non-commercial, just to share some fun, socialise, meet new people and maybe make new friends. The group is new, but if you help getting it started, by joining in and giving it a try, together we might create a nice group for watching movies and meeting new people. You can always just leave again if you don’t like it :-)

The movie events details come out every Thursday or shortly after, when the cinemas have published their screenings for the week.

When you request to join, please answer a few short questions about what draws you to the group. This is to make sure everyone in the group shares the same interests in movies and contributes to a friendly atmosphere. One of the questions is about witty or heart-warming movies you’ve enjoyed. They can be anything from old classics to more recent films, famous or not, liked by many or few. If you don't know the titles, just tell us bits of the plots or who’s in there. If there's a match, you're in :-)
