You can buy your equip on Amazon or eBay or other sellers. Once you receive it you can be communicating on air within an hour. The technology is called meshtastic.
It’s a tiny device that does not rely on the cellular network or any network other than our devices. YOUR DEVICES + OUR DEVICES CREATES THE NETWORK NO WIRES!!!!!!
In plain words
It’s off grid text messaging. NOTHING FANCY No pics, no voice, Its alpha numeric.
You can use it casually for small talk you can use if for texting privately without fear of your messages being saved or read by the carriers. Your device is the carrier.
The real focus is if the systems go down you can communicate locally to friends and family via text to check in without wifi or cell service.
What’s unique is each of us owning a unit act as the wireless network.
Each device can reach as far as 2-3 miles on Long Island but 2-3 miles is impractical. Here is the beauty
Everyone’s device has the ability to act as a repeater and together we can talk much further.
Ex) if you and your brother live 5 miles away from one another and you can’t communicate with your brother because he is too far but if we have someone with a unit in between both brothers
That in between device can receive message from brother A and re transmit the message to brother B.
And no the middle guy can’t see your messages unless you want them to because you can send on the Public channel or on your own Channel which is totally encrypted .
The more members or users we get the bigger our network grows
No fees not ever unless its something we decide to pay for as a group.

And I am no expert by no means. So if you have experience even better your knowledge is welcomed.

This doesn’t take too much to do
As I said you can buy units for $40 bucks on the cheap to get started these are portable devices but ideally we would want you to spring for an additional $150 bucks for a solar powered stationary device that mounts somewhere at your residence up high.
Height is Might on these things and gives greater range.
That’s the expense (buying a portable ($40) and hopefully a stationary ($150) unit for yourself)
We will learn as a group sharing our knowledge, research and test out the network as we build.
We hope to also be Encouraging others to become members.
Because the more people with devices the greater coverage we ALL will have.
