What we’re about
This group is for fun and active people who want to socialize and make some lasting friendships. We have a positive and energetic vibe going in this group with an emphasis on a safe and fun environment. It is open to adults of all ages, and members are welcome to post events (let me know if you want to do that!). Please scroll and read all of the policies below. THIS IS NOT A DATING GROUP!
8/26/25 NOTE:
- I am going to try going "dues free" in this group, and instead ask people to contribute a couple bucks at their first event, occasionally enable fundraising, or post a fundraising event to help cover the expensive Organizer fee. Those of you who have been members and have paid dues or gave a generous donation - a big THANK YOU, your contribution has been logged and you are covered!
- While going to restaurants is always fun, I am going to try to focus on more active events moving forward.
GROUP POLICIES:
- To join, you MUST have a profile picture with a clear view of your face and use your real first name. (You're photo must be of you, not a pic of just your pet, not an abstract art pic, etc.)
- To join, you must be based in Northern Ohio. If not, you'll have to explain in the Join Questions why you are trying to joing the group, and could be declined at the Organizer's discretion.
- Per Meetup policies, membership in this group is at the discretion of the Organizer.
- No discussion of politics or other divisive topics. Keep things friendly!
- This is NOT a dating group! Obviously it's ok for people to connect, but that is not the focus of this group, please don't come to events expecting that, and please do not put me in the middle. I am not a matchmaker and will not respond to requests for personal information about others, nor will I pass on messages to others.
- No bad behavior at any event, in chats, in comments, or with organizer/event hosts. Violating policies and/or bad behavior can result in being removed and banned from the group.
- If you RSVP you are expected to show up. If something comes up and you can't make it, it is super easy, barely an inconvenience to just change your RSVP!
- If there is a Wait List, Members and Trial Members in Good Standing will be given priority. Good Standing means you do not have a chronic history of No Shows, or very Late Dropping out. People with a history of No Shows, Very Late, and/or Chronic Late Dropping Out will be moved to the Wait List.
- HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT: You join and attend events at your own risk, and AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS Meetup, the Group Organizer, and the Event Hosts from any loss, liability, damage or cost, including court costs and attorney's fees, that they may incur due to your participation in said activity, WHETHER CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OF RELEASEES or otherwise.
- THANKS, AND NOW LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!
Upcoming events (1)
See all- Kinzua Bridge State Park, PA (Long Day Trip)Kinzua Bridge State Park, Kane, PA
Once the highest and longest railroad viaduct in the world (in 1882), partially destroyed by a tornado in 2003, today you can walk on it and get a stunning view of the Kinzua Gorge and the debris field below. The bridge was closed last November for renovations, but has been re-opened for 2 months (Sept - Oct) to allow viewing fall foilage.
- It's free, but you are attending at your own risk, and you are responsible for yourself and for your own travel arrangements!
- This is 3.5 hrs from me in Parma/Middleburg Hts, but I am going to allocate at least 4 hours to get there to account for rest stops. Check the distance from your place on Google Maps. Start and End time shown includes a 4 hr drive there and back, your drive time might be different, stay as long as you like, or leave for home earlier.
- I plan on getting there at 12 noon and will visit in the following order:
- 1 - Visitor Center/Museum (open 8:00 AM. to 6:00 PM - it's small)
- 2 - Skywalk Overlook (open 8 AM to sunset, picnic area closes at dusk)
- 3 - Skywalk walkway (open 8 AM to sunset)
- 4 - Kinzua Creek Trail - a steep and difficult 0.8 mile/1 hour, out & back trail to the debris field. Requires sturdy hiking shoes, bottled water, and high stamina!
- 5 - There's also an easy 1.6 mile/45 min to 1 hour, hardwood forest loop trail (General Kane Trail) that you can optionally do.
- 6 - I might stay nearby overnight and go back at sunset, and see other nearby things Sunday morning.
- Pack a lunch and use the picnic tables, eat at Little Sisters Big Rig food truck in the parking lot, and/or head out to a nearby restaurant afterwards like Barrel House or Tack's Inn.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Attend at your own risk, you are responsible for yourself and for your own travel arrangements!
- Parking will be limited due to construction equipment. On busy days, traffic might be backed up or slow-moving going into the park, and you may have to wait to enter. Parking is not allowed on the side of the road leading into the park. If parking lots become full, incoming vehicles will be turned away. (We'll just come back an hour or so later if that ends up happening)
- Carpool with a friend to make getting in and out easier due to limited parking!
- The railroad tracks on the Skywalk have been temporarily removed for the renovation, and the view looking through the glass panel at the end of the Skywalk is currently obstructed.
- The Skywalk and Kinzua Creek Trail may be closed to visitor access during periods of inclement weather including snow, ice, thunderstorms, and high winds.
