The Novella- Chess Story, also known as The Royal Game, by Stefan Zweig.

Chess Story is the Austrian master Stefan Zweig's final achievement, completed in Brazilian exile and sent off to his American publisher only days before his suicide in 1942. It is the only story in which Zweig looks at Nazism, and he does so with characteristic emphasis on the psychological.

Travelers by ship from New York to Buenos Aires find that on board with them is the world champion of chess, an arrogant and unfriendly man. They come together to try their skills against him and are soundly defeated. Then a mysterious passenger steps forward to advise them and their fortunes change. How he came to possess his extraordinary grasp of the game of chess and at what cost lie at the heart of Zweig's story.

Optional Short Story Pairing- All The King's Horses by Kurt Vonnegut.

Since Chess Story is pretty short, we can also talk about Vonnegut's chess-themed short story, which can be found online and also in the short-story collection Welcome To The Monkey House.

The Whisky: Oyo Oloroso Wheat (Ohio)
OYO Wheat Whiskey is one example of Oloroso's award winning drams. The brand name is pronounced as seen, seeking to replicate the Native American word for river. This dram is made from Ohio soft red winter wheat and has been double distilled before being matured in oak barrels before being finished in Sherry casks.

The Grand Bar & Lounge is a throwback to the way bars used to be. With nods to industrial SoHo, the gold-polished marble top oak bar and embossed leather bar stools with nail-head detailing are a high, dignified perch to nurse an Old-Fashioned. The chandeliers were inspired by the New York Public Library, while woven leather banquettes offer a more intimate hangout along the soaring windows and terrazzo floors with nickel strips.
