This Weekend in Astoria
The eggnog's calling

Good morning, Astorians. Pardon the premature emailulation, but your trusty editor is headed south for the holidays. Lots of great parties and openings this weekend in Astoria and LIC. We strongly suggest having one last weekend among friends to remember before heading home to see the fam!

Also, please take the time to vote for your pick for Best of Astoria 2008 using the link below.

The Dean Project Gallery in LIC will be displaying images from King of the Dharma: The Life of Je Tsongkapa this weekend. Then if you make the trek, go around the block to check out WunderBar, the new German BierHaus & Grill.

If you haven't been to Sanford's since they re-opened, we would suggest stopping by for brunch. For only $11, you get a choice of some surprisingly creative and delicious brunch dishes. And if you've been known to have a drink with your eggs, you'll be pleased to learn this prices includes two brunch drinks.

The Brooklyn band, The Hot Sardines, will be playing the Holiday Stomp party at Waltz-Astoria. There promises to be mistletoe and top hats--a deadly combination in the eye of a woman. If fish in a can isn't your bag, catch the Mainline Gypsies at the Beer Garden Saturday night.

Swing by Waltz-Astoria for some last minute shopping at the last day of their local artisan craft fair. Then hop the 7 Train to Flushing to check out CINEMAROSA: Queens Only Queer Film Festival at the Queens Museum. Following the festival, you can stick around for Tradiciones Latinas en Navidad. Find your inner Latino all weekend at the Queens Museum in Flushing.

Sunday night, wind down at Rapture's holiday party, drop off a toy for a tot, and get a free drink. Then, if the charity ju-ju isn't enough, there will be a raffle at 9p for a jam-packed liquor basket!

LIC Bar's weekly Monday Revue has a twist this week in light of the pending holidays. Drop by for some free pizza and no cover music. Their holiday decorations are the best around. Stop by early and grab the window table with some friends for a memorable night.
