Details
Hello Whynot Adventures ,
Summer is here Yippee!!!!!
This will be our last formal hike until the Fall. So glad so many people will be coming to the Picnic.
Just a few details:
All paper products and silverware will be supplied
All condiments will be supplied
Charcoal and cooking utensils as well.
Please bring your meat to be grilled
A side dish to share
A beverage
The weather looks great!!!
Hope to see you all! 😀
We have reservations which gives us the group discount of 25%.
Ticket price will be $15.00 each (normally $20.00 each). When you get to the guard gate, let them know you are with the Why Not group and we are paying inside the Corning Visitor Center. The reservation is in my name (Katy Balogh) although you should only need to tell them you are with the Why Nots. I arranged this with Melissa from Guest Services. Please bring cash which Dana will collect and pay as a group. If you already purchased tickets or have a membership, you don't need to meet inside the visitor center as that is for the group who needs to pay. 😀
One of the most spectacular markers for the changing of the seasons is found in the Rhododendron Gardens t Holden Arboretum. http://www.holdenarb.org/visit/garden-collections-maps.asp#
Our hike will be through Holden's 25 acres of spectacular blooming Rhododendrons followed by Pierson Creek trail returning to enjoy a potluck picnic and cook out in a beautiful setting beside Foster Pond.
Bring your favorite grilling items and a dish to share for the picnic after the hike. We will bring charcoal, ice and grilling equipment.
Parking is on the left immediately after the entrance. We will assemble here. Restrooms are in the Visitors Center. Hike assembly time is 10:00. Please arrive early enough to allow time for all the last-minute pre-hike preparation. There is a $20 admission charge for adults, $14 for children (3-12 years old).
For groups of 10 or more we can get a 25% discount. We will try for the group discount.
