Adventurous Paddle: These paddles usually will be 8 plus miles, usually in more challenging water. These paddles will require at least a 12-foot boat with 2 sealed bulkheads. People who sign up for these trips should be experienced. If you have questions about whether or not this type of paddle is for you, contact the event host directly through Messages. You can always contact Kimmie as well, even if she is not the event host.

We will put in at the launch on a creek that takes us out to the Potomac. We will then head up stream and around a few islands. We may explore a creek or two off the Potomac, as well as an island or two. Depending on the current, it should be a relatively easy paddle upstream, but I have seen the current between a few of the islands get a bit strong. I am planning on about 4 or so miles upstream, and then the return... but the creek might add a bit to the total. So we are looking at between 8-10 miles, or so. Of course our mileage might change based on the course we take and what the group is interested in.

Make sure to bring lots of water, sunscreen, and snacks. We will stop for a lunch/snack break on one of the islands. Feel free to bring something yummy to share, many choose to do that.

Remember that 10:30 is the on the water time. Please plan on being there by at least 10:00 am to unload and get your gear ready.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR A PFD AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL SAFETY.

You must have your own equipment and kayak for this paddle. The Organizers and Event Hosts of Wicked Fun Kayakers look out for our paddlers, but we are not trained experts in rescuing paddlers. All trips are organized by volunteers who are experienced kayakers but not professionals or qualified rescue experts. You are responsible for your own personal safety.
