Potomac Paddle Shepherdstown Fall Colors Adventurous Paddle
Details
**I will be keeping an eye on the winds. At this point 10 - 20 mph winds are predicted. Friday I will check to see if we should be concered about winds and cancel if necessary. Most of where we will be paddling is protected, but we do want to be safe.
This an "Adventurous Paddle" which means faster speeds, longer mileage, upstream and/or challenging water. Paddlers must be experienced. Plastic boats recommended, just in case we have to scrape over a ledge or two. We will be paddling an average of 3 mph. If you have questions about this, please let me know.
This lovely section of the Potomac offers a fun and relaxing flatwater experience with the occasional riffle and wild-life sightings to keep things interesting. I am hoping for a wonderful view of the changing leaves. The paddle is a total of 8 miles. We will meet at the Shepherdstown Boat Ramp. We will paddle upstream to Synders Landing. Pack snacks and lunch to enjoy/share during breaks, and bring a hat, water and sunscreen.
Make sure to bring lots of water, sunscreen, and snacks. We will stop for a lunch/snack break at Synders Landing.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR A PFD AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL SAFETY.
You must have your own equipment and kayak for this paddle. The Organizers and Event Hosts of Wicked Fun Kayakers look out for our paddlers, but we are not trained experts in rescuing paddlers. All trips are organized by volunteers who are experienced kayakers but not professionals or qualified rescue experts. You are responsible for your own personal safety.
