Living With Loss - Untangle Group Therapy Programme (8 weeks)

Details

We’re working with practitioner psychologist, Dr Lizzie Paddock to offer small group therapy sessions to allow yourself the time and space to process your loss. Grief is the normal and natural reaction to significant emotional loss of any kind; it is not about conquering loss and 'getting back to normal'.

When – All sessions will be hosted on Zoom, on Monday or Thursday evenings (depending on the group's preference), at 7pm.

How long – You will have two 1-hour individual therapy sessions (one before and one after the group sessions), and 6 weeks of hourlong group sessions. These sessions will start in January 2021.

How much - £250 which includes 6 x 1 hr sessions, and 2 individual therapy sessions.

There will be no more than 8 participants in each group, so that everyone benefits from shared reflection.

-----------------------------------------------------

This group will offer the opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings and to get and give support. It is a group to connect with yourself and others - supported by trained therapists. The group programme is based upon cognitive-behavioural principles and require that participants be actively involved in practicing skills and receiving feedback from facilitators.

Unlike traditional therapy, the group gives you an opportunity to see what you are managing well, the things you’re struggling with and connect with others who understand. You will get to know other group members and benefit from the support and understanding from each other. Facilitators will offer information and exercises to enable this process and help you get what you need. Useful coping strategies often come from attending a group, but this is usually achieved through a deepening understanding of yourself through contact with, and feedback from, other people who relate.

Through the six weekly sessions, we will discuss

  • The reality of loss - share experiences, challenge myths, and discuss what loss means to you and how you are experiencing it.
  • Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviours
  • Considering the future – what goals are you working towards?

Loss is a highly individual experience; there's no right or wrong way to grieve. This group invites you to think, talk and share experiences. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact Dr Paddock at lizzie@mypsychologysupport.co.uk.
