The Skinny on Rom Coms

Details

Rom coms aren't what is making it to theaters these days but it doesn't mean we don't want to see them and aren't eager to learn how to bring our story ideas to audiences. Join the June Weds One and meet Alys Murray who began as a novelist and has five rom coms under her belt. She's done the research on trends, trendsetters, and is willing to share her experience about breaking into the genre!

Presenter Bio:

Alys Murray writes crowd-pleasing genre fare for the romantic in all of us.

After writing three internationally best-selling novels with Grand Central Publishing, she transitioned to writing features for companies such as Hallmark, Lifetime, and ViacomCBS. Her latest script, My Southern Family Christmas, debuted on Hallmark Channel to nearly 3 million live viewers. She has also ghostwritten or script doctored several further features for Lifetime, Hallmark, and Netflix.

A New Orleans native, she obtained her undergraduate degree from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. During her time at NYU London, she studied at the university's prestigious playwriting course in cooperation with The Jermyn Street Theatre and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
