Details
NC500 bikepacking Scotland series level difficult- before the midges, tourists, campervans & LEJOGers get there. We will catch early morning ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan then train to Inverness to stay overnight in a hostel ( the one I know stores bikes safety is situated over a pub & is the general departure for cyclists & hikers). We will then set out & wildcamp the entire NC500 visiting establishments at night if the group wishes for whisky sampling.Once back at Inverness we will catch the train back to Stranraer & ferry back. Depending on participants a van may be hired & I will drive us from Stranraer to Inverness.1 week is allocated to allow for ferry & trains. The dates are definite, times may be subject to change with ferry so do not book unless you have spoken to organisers first. if the group uses trains RSVP will close end of March 2024 as bikes need to be booked on well in advance & get booked out early. You need to have done 3 bikepacks with wildcamp events to participate & organisers have final decision. This is a difficult rating and a test of endurance but the scenes are worth it. Due to the nature of the bikepack you must be able to do the distance & elevation. You will be entirely self sufficient with a tent that can with stand extreme conditions as is your sleeping bag & you must bring waterproofs lights & warm clothes. Your bike must be in excellent working order with spare tubes kit (a full list will be given to participants). Do not go ahead and book unless you have spoken to the organisers.
Helmets are compulsory - no helmet no ride.
