Winter miles -Summer smiles Bikepacking/cycling touring part 1

This event is ideal for those wishing to go bikepacking in 2024 on longer journeys & for those joining for this groups trip to northern Spain in 2024. We will be focusing on distance (140km) and elevation in excess of 3000m & gradient slopes in excess of 20% rather than speed on this event & going irrespective of the elements with your gear however it is hoped to complete this route in day light hours. Lights and helmet is eassential. We will be meeting at the dying cow pub & from there cycling over mount Leinster - back in a circular route with bikepacking gear you intend to take on your trips in 2024. Those going to Spain please allow for the weight of a bivy bag included in your gear. Please ensure your bike is in good working order and have lights and spare inner tube, links pump & maintenance equipment a helmet is compulsory as well as hi viz items of clothes If you don't have great knowledge about bikes contact us before hand and we can advise. A gravel or mountain bike is fine for this journey. Ensure you have adequate camping equipment, tent/tarp sleeping bag and food and ensure it can withstand Irish weather. Bring warm clothes If you are unsure what to bring please contact the group organisers.
