Join Wild Connections for a hike into a remote section of the South Platte River known as Wildcat Canyon. This area upstream of Cheeseman Reservoir largely escaped damage from the 2002 Hayman Fire, and is managed for wild and scenic river values by the South Platte Enhancement Board, however is threatened by heavy illegal motorized use.

The South Platte is recognized by the Forest Service for its "Outstanding Remarkable Values," including for historic cultural resources, fisheries, geology, recreation, scenery and wildlife.

This monitoring hike will cover about 7 miles, with an elevation change of about 1200 feet, and is rated strenuous because of the distance and elevation change.
