RIPARIAN (AND USEFUL PLANTS) WALK — midday
Details
We’ll walk into the Upper Arroyo, north of Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and see the flora of summer, and see what’s alive, and what has died back. During our morning walk, we’ll learn about the unique riparian plants, and the uses of the many plants we’ll see. We’ll see the alders, mulefat, mugwort, bay, willow, etc. There are many other riparian plants, which we may or may not see, depending on the conditions.
Bring water. This will be an approximately two hour exploratory walk. From the intersection of Ventura and Windsor in Altadena, continue north on the road into the JPL parking lot. Park at the northern extremity of that lot, where we will begin. From the Windsor exit of the 210 freeway, drive north on Windsor until Ventura, where you will see the road extending north into the JPL parking area. Please RSVP.
$45 ($30 student/senior).
