Join Coach Lisa, The Running University, and I on February 14, March 21 and April 11 for Mobility to Miles workshops held at Wild Girl Wellness at Baseline and Mill in Tempe.
In Carolyn's section of each Miles to Mobility workshop we will be learning different mobility exercises to improve our walking and running. Mobility just means being able to move with more strength and control through a greater range of motion while you're working, as opposed to stretching, where you just sit there and hold a position.
These drills will help us get loose for a walk or run, improve strength and range of motion in our running muscles to help us run better overall while reducing the chances of getting injured while we're out there.
We will learn foot, ankle, knee, hip, spine and shoulder drills. I like to think of mobility drills as having more tools to choose from in your toolbox. So while the drills will vary from session to session they won't build off of one another so each mobility lesson will stand alone but if you attend all three sessions you'll simply have more tools in your toolbox.
In the run/walk portion of each session Coach Lisa will guide you through simple, mindful ChiWalking/ChiRunning principles that help walking and running feel easier, more natural, and more supportive of your body. Instead of focusing on pace or distance, you’ll learn how alignment and relaxation, and body sensing can reduce strain and impact from the road. This makes it all so much easier and will bring more joy to your walks or runs. You’ll have time to practice these skills during the session so you can feel the difference for yourself and walk away with one or two clear focuses you can use on every walk, whether you’re walking for health, enjoyment, or toward a future event.
We will focus on a different theme in each workshop:
February 14th : Loosening
Let go of tension. Move with less effort.
March 21th: Focusing
Move with intention instead of effort.
April 11th: Energizing
Create energy instead of forcing it.
We will learn new things in each session so they are not dependent on each other. You'll get the most out of it when attending all 3 sessions. For those of you that are ready for all 3 sessions you'll get 3 months in Coach Lisa's TRU Tribe Community of women walkers and runners over 50 and 2 women only group personal training sessions per month with Carolyn.
For each session purchased you get 1 free group event with Coach Lisa: either a Track Workout (walkers and runners) or a Group Walk/Run.

If you choose, you can join us and walk or run the Girls On The Run 5K on April 18th. This is a super fun event where you get to be part of a 5K with girls from 3rd-8th grade. It's a first 5K for many of them!
