We will hike just shy of 6.
1200 feet elevation gain.

The trail offers ancient dark forests, moss and house-sized boulders, old growth and evidence of logging operations from the 19th century.

From I-5, take exit 240 (Alger)
RIGHT (west) on Lake Samish Road

First LEFT onto Barrel Springs Road
0.6 miles to a sign reading “Blanchard Forest Block”.

RIGHT on dirt road then 1.7 miles to a sign for “Samish Overlook”
LEFT through a yellow gate - 2.2 miles to Samish Overlook Day Use Area.
