Hollywood Sign & Bat Cave

Welcome to the monthly community outreach Meetup hike sponsored by the women's hiking club Wild Women Hiking (http://www.wildwomenhiking.com/) - http://www.wildwomenhiking.com .

We will hike through Brush Canyon Trail along Brush Creek then ascend to the Mulholland Trail along the ridge between Mount Bell and Mount Lee. We will enjoy a spectacular view of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valleys as we traverse the high trail up to the Hollywood Sign. We will hike to the top of Mt. Lee, and right up behind the Hollywood sign.
For those who want a bonus, once we return to our the parking area, we can walk a very very short trip up to "The Bat Cave", formally known as the Bronson Caves, featured in the classic TV show Batman.

Where to meet:
From the 101 Fwy/Hollywood Fwy exit Hollywood Blvd and turn drive west on Hollywood Blvd in to Bronson Ave. and turn right (north). Drive 1.5 miles on Bronson and where it ends at Canyon Drive turn left onto Canyon Drive, continuing up the hill. Take this road past Bronson Park playground on the left to where the road ends at a gate and parking area. Park in the parking area there on your left. We will meet at the gate at the end of Canyon Drive.

Remember to bring:
1-2 liters of water, snacks, sunscreen, sun hat and/or parasol, athletic shoes with lug soles or hiking boots, personal medications, handful of toilet tissue, small plastic sack for garbage, and sunglasses.

Optional safety items may include: an umbrella (for shade), hand sanitizer, pepper spray, whistle, compass, first aid kit, camera, trekking pole/s, pen/pencil and paper.

Hiking will begin promptly at the scheduled time. Anyone arriving late will be considered a "no-show", so be a little early.
