The Big Butterfly Count

Details
WildCookham will be participating in this national event from July 18th to August 10th and we urge all our supporters to do so as well. Recording species and numbers of butterflies in as many places as possible helps inform us as to the state of our wildlife and changes that are affecting them.
You can do this in your garden, local park, places of work or walking routes and you can submit your records on-line each day on the Butterfly Conservation recording site (https://bigbutterflycount.butterfly-conservation.org/)
There is an App or a chart to download to help with your identification and it is a great activity for all the family.
In the lead-up to the event we will have already held our annual butterfly walk in Maidenhead Thicket (July 5th) and we will be holding other walks in places such as Odney during the main event itself (keep an eye open for details being released shortly).
In addition to sending your records to the national database, please do use our Facebook page to let us know what you are finding. The same means can be used to post photos of anything you need help identifying. And although this is an information message rather than a traditional local event it would help us to know how many will be taking part if you would 'sign up' to this message as usual.
