New Forest

A 35 mile varied ride using forest and heathland tracks. For those who are driving please park in the Station Car Park at Brockenhurst (SO42 7TW), which is £4.30 a day payable by RinGo. Brockenhurst is approx 77 miles or 1.5 hours from Richmond so please give yourself plenty of time for the journey.
The ride departs from Brockenhurst at 10 am, and for those arriving early please make your way to the Terrace Cafe (58 Brookley Road) just around the corner from the station. We met there last year and the cafe has railings where bikes can be leant against. We can have a quick coffee before departure but please be there on time or slightly before. This ride takes us along New Forest cycle tracks to Burley where we stop at the Shappen Cafe for coffee and then along the disused Southampton & Dorchester railway line to Sway then heading south to Milford on Sea stopping for lunch on the Green, possibly an alfresco lunch supplied by the Melleford cafe. While we are at Milford we'll cycle along the shingle spit to Hurst Castle, an artillery fortress built by Henry VIII, with stunning views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. The last part of the ride takes us along the coast to Lymington - a possible ice cream stop - then north via Boldre back to Brockenhurst where we end the ride. The ride finishes around 6pm.
