London Calling FREE Ride - 30 miles
Details
Given the seriously wet weather we have had recently we take to tarmac for another FREE urban ride visiting a mixture of some of London's best known sights along with some of the quirkier places on our doorstep. Limited to 8 riders this is a 30 mile adventure into London starting and ending in Richmond. We meet just inside Richmond Park Gate ready for a 9.30 departure. We head across Richmond Park towards Wimbledon Common passing the famous Windmill and stopping at Dynamo Cafe, a well known haunt for cyclists. We follow the Thames Path then cross into Chelsea heading towards Brompton Cemetery, one of the Magnificent Seven cemeteries and built in the 1850's to offer an eternal resting place to some of London's wealthiest people. Well worth a visit. We then head past London's museum district, much upgraded in recent times, to Hyde Park and then to Buckingham Palace. We stop for lunch at Hungama, a seriously good street food cafe near Trafalgar Square - see review link below. After lunch we head down to The Strand and pass through a haunted tunnel under the Savoy. Crossing the Thames once more we take a mixture of cycle routes to Battersea Park and then via the Thames Path back to where we started in Richmond.
