2025 FALL BACKBONE TRAIL 2025 #2 – Trippet Ranch to Malibu Creek Backbone

Our second Fall 2025 Backbone Trail outing in the Santa Monica Mountains will be a 13 mile, 2600 gain outing going from Trippet Ranch to the Malibu Creek Backbone Trailhead. The hike will climb Hondo Canyon to the Fossil Ridge Trail then going past Saddle Peak before descending along the BBT. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and a good attitude. Rain, excessive heat, or Red Flag alert cancels.

This is a Sierra Club hike, so participants must sign in, carry their medical form, and hike between the leader and sweep. We ask you to print it out and bring it with you, but the form will be available at the trailhead as well or you can download the form here. http://bitly.com/scmedicalform

TRAILHEAD LOCATION: Meet at the Backbone Trailhead, Malibu Creek State Park parking lot at 8:00 AM. From PCH go north on Malibu Canyon Road for 8 miles after the tunnel to the dirt lot on the left or from the 101 go south on Las Virgenes for 5 miles past Piuma Road to the dirt lot on the right before the tunnel.

CAR SHUTTLE: From the meeting point at the Malibu Creek Backbone Trailhead we will car shuttle 15 miles on Mulholland Highway and Old Topanga Canyon Road to the start point at Trippet Ranch.
