FALL BACKBONE TRAIL 2024 #4 – Mishe Mokwa to La Jolla Canyon (DATE CHANGE)

Details

Our fourth Fall Backbone Trail hike in the Santa Monica Mountains will be 17 miles on the BBT on the Sandstone Peak, Chamberlain, Blue Canyon, Wood Canyon, and Ray Miller Trails before finishing the La Jolla Campground. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and a good attitude. Rain, excessive heat, or Red Flag alert cancels.

This is a Sierra Club hike, so participants must sign in, carry their medical form, and hike between the leader and sweep. The Sierra Club medical form is available at ttps://tinyurl.com/ycy985mt. We ask you to print it out and carry it with you, but the form will be available at the trailhead as well.

TRAILHEAD LOCATION: We will meet initially at 7:30 AM outside the La Jolla Campground on PCH just south of the entrance (Ray Miller Trailhead). From the PCH, the La Jolla Campground Parking Area is 4.9 miles northwest of Yerba Buena Road (Neptune's Net); or 4.2 miles southeast of Las Posas Road. Go past the yellow gate into the parking area or park along the shoulder (on the east side of PCH).

CAR SHUTTLE: From La Jolla Canyon, we will car shuttle 17 miles up the long and winding Yerba Buena to the Mishe Mokwa trailhead.

COVID-19 safety measures

In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. The participant is responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test.
The event host is instituting the above safety measures for this event. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring, and will not independently verify, that these precautions are followed.
