Curious about building outdoor skills, gaining confidence in the backcountry, learning how to navigate with a map and compass, or just looking for a like-minded hiking community? Join us for an informational session on Wednesday, September 10th at 6:30pm at Sports Basement Long Beach to learn all about the Sierra Club’s Wilderness Travel Course (WTC) - a 10-week mountaineering and outdoor skills program taught by the Angeles Chapter in four locations across the greater Los Angeles area.

This free session, led by WTC staff and course instructor Dave Meltzer, will give you a behind-the-scenes look at what to expect from the course, including:

  • Course structure, dates, and locations Skills covered (navigation, snow travel, backpacking, rock scrambling, and more)
  • Gear recommendations and fitness expectations
  • Field outings and group camaraderie
  • What makes WTC so impactful for new and experienced adventurers alike
