2026 Saturdays in the Santa Monica Mountains #2 – Mesa & McAuley Peaks

Join us for a moderate 8-miles, 1600’ gain loop hike to Mesa (1844’) and McAuley Peaks (2049’), named after the legendary Santa Monica trail guide and author, Milt McAuley) with views from the Pepperdine Cross included.
Meet at 8:00 AM at the Malibu Creek Backbone Trail access on Los Virgenes/Malibu Canyon Road (PCH 5 miles north on Malibu Canyon or 101 five miles south on Las Virgenes Road). Park and pay in the parking lot or park for free if there are available spots in the dirt lot at the corner of Piuma. Carpools encouraged.
Bring water, lunch, hiking shoes, and a good attitude. Rain, excessive heat, or Red Flag alert cancels..
