Basic Land Navigation & Fire Starters

Details
Like our last meetup, we are limiting this to just 15 people. Register early to make sure you have a spot.
We are going to talk basic land navigation skills in this meetup. Learn how to use a compass. Learn how many paces you have to walk for a 100 meters. Review topographical maps and more. If time allows, a basic Navigation course will be available to test your skills.
Work in a group of a few people, or by yourself. Whatever you like.
Please bring a compass if you have one. If you are looking to buy a good one - look at the Sunto MC-2 compass. I should have a couple compasses to borrow as well.
One suggestion was to have a "Knot" for each Meet Up. This Meetup's knot will be the tauntline. See if you can learn it before the MeetUp. If not, no worries, we will practice it before the Meet Up starts.
We will be meeting at the same place as last time - Boch Park in Schaumburg. We will meet at the shelter which is near the playground.
We will also have an in depth discussion about fire building, primarily with a ferro rod, matches and lighters. Plan is to have a variety of different types of woods and natural fire starters to take a look at. Many of these can be made at home to bring out on the trail. WE WILL NOT BE BUILDING ANY ACTUAL FIRES.
Cost will be $10 again as we will likely rent a shelter again to meet under.
We look to finalize the location in or near Schaumburg shortly.
