Basketry workshop

Details

• What we'll do
Escape to a pocket of woodland in south London and join us by the campfire for a basket making workshop. You’ll learn the traditional methods of making coil baskets from grasses, in a relaxed woodland course where you’ll get to use your hands and clear your mind.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Did you know most world cultures have a tradition of coil basketry? This day-long workshop covers the culture history of the baskets and their uses.

You’ll learn how to select materials for making them, get to grips with the techniques for starting off as well as coiling and finishing.

Get stuck into harvesting your own materials, and once done, you’ll get to take home your finished basket to decorate your home (or use for your own foraged finds!)

WHAT YOU NEED

Dress appropriately for the weather and activity. We recommend sturdy shoes.

WHERE

We’ll be based in a pocket of ancient woodland in south London, which formed part of the Great North Wood.
