Details
🌱 Wild Plants, Pocket Microscopes & Nettle Cordage 🔍
📅 Sunday July 6th
⏰ 1.45pm-4pm
📍 MEETING POINT: Outside Storey’s Field Centre, Eddington, Cambridge
📝 WHAT'S HAPPENING: Join the Cambridge Wildish Club for a guided walk through Eddington’s green spaces with Will Hay.
We’ll take a slow loop through the local paths and meadows, pausing to highlight interesting species and take a closer look at the details using pocket microscopes. Expect a bit of gentle foraging, some hands-on nature learning, and a chance to try your hand at making cord from stinging nettles, a surprisingly satisfying Wildish skill.
🎒 WHAT TO BRING: No special equipment needed
Optional: notebook, pocket magnifier, or flask of tea
🥾 WALK DETAILS:
Distance: approx. 2 miles / 3 km
Difficulty: Easy to moderate – mostly paved, with one slightly rougher field that may have thistles
🌿 A NOTE ON THE PLACE: Eddington is a growing neighbourhood where new paths weave through wild edges, planted green spaces, and unexpected pockets of biodiversity. This walk is about learning to see those places with fresh eyes—and appreciating the small, brilliant details of the plants that grow all around us.
