Meon Valley Blackberry Picking

A super casual walk taking in the views and some of the Hills of the Meon Valley picking blackberries as we walk. Opportunity for the foodies to share any recipes they may have for Jam, Crumble, muffins!

Meeting Point:

The Round Tower Cafe at Butser Hill. GU32 1QR
Walk start time: 11am (we will be setting off at 11 so please do arrive a little beforehand)

As we will be stopping to pick blackberries and admire the views I think we will be walking for around 3 hours.

What to bring:

Weather appropriate clothing, water and snacks, something to put your blackberries in (I would recommend a Tupperware to stop them getting squashed) sensible footwear as will be road and trail walking.

Walk length:

It will be approximately 5/5.5 miles as we may detour for views on top of the hill.

The walk will be a mix of road and trails, and we will be descending and ascending Butser Hill which is the one of the highest points in Hampshire and the highest point of the chalk ridge of the South Downs.

Need to know:

There is parking by the cafe, if you have a QE car park pass it is valid for the hill otherwise you will need to pay which is via card on exit.

The closest train station is Petersfield, if there is anyone that needs a lift I can come and get you and drop you back, or if anyone else is able to offer lifts to non drivers please let us know in the whatsapp group.

There are refreshments and toilets at the start/end point only.
