Description:
Both routes will go to older and newer parts of West Salem, including the small downtown area. The attractive newer residential area at higher elevation is rated a 2A. There is a 1K option on the 6K going to the Audubon Nature Reserve. The town of West Salem became part of Salem proper in 1949. Workers lived close to the food processing plants, using fruit from nearby orchards.

Driving Directions: I-5 South: Exit 260A & follow signs for OR99E Bus for nearly 5 mil3 (right at merger). Right on Union Street to enter the park by the RR pedestrian bridge. I-5 North: Exit 253 & turn left to follow OR22 signs to downtown Salem. Be in left lane when OR 22 enters Front St (by the Carousel) after 3 miles. Continue on Front. St under 2 bridges. Left at traffic light at Union St (RR pedestrian bridge). Parking lots are near the bridge.
