Backpack with us about 80 miles over 5-to-6 days in a beautiful time of year for hiking in NC: May!
● Dates: about 5/8/27 to 5/13/27
● Start/End: Route 19E in Roan Mountain, TN to Damascus, VA (i.e. northbound on NC's northern Appalachian Trail section)
● Mileage: averaging about ±13.3-to-16± miles per day for 5-to-6 hiking days
● Optional 5/14-5/16 Trail Days: Join Pam, me, and others at Trail Days which begins the evening of 5/13 (earliest Tent City opens) and officially runs from 5/14/27 to 5/16/27 in Damascus. You would need to find your own accommodations, but we can give you ideas, etc -- examples: Tent City, camp in your car in one of several open parking areas, camp in a private yard, stay at an AirBnB. This will be our 4th consecutive year attending Trail Days but the 1st time we've hiked into Trail Days.
● Will we be hiking with "the bubble"? Maybe; however, we've not found this to be any problem in the past, plus its all about connecting with hikers leading up to Trail Days & seeing more of the "full experience" in 2027!
● Initial itinerary will be posted later in 2026 or early-2027 and we'll send notices as major updates are added.

● Taking suggestions & feedback if you have anything you prefer to share as the itinerary is being crafted &/or please ask any questions.

● All are at their own risk and are expected to be aware of their own capabilities for a section hike like this one. Make sure you know all of your gear, navigation, food needs, etc, and provide for yourself accordingly.

● We will need to connect with new faces to make sure they have had prior experience a section hike like this requires and is comfortable with the itinerary, etc. If we are not able to connect with new faces, we will move them to "not going" status within about 2 weeks from the start of the hike.
