Imagine standing on the deck of a boat as the sun rises over the Texas coast, watching majestic Whooping Cranes – those rare, towering white birds with their striking red crowns – glide across the marshes of Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. These endangered giants (fewer than 500 in the wild!) spend their winters here, and we’re heading straight to their prime hangout for an experience you’ll never forget.

When: Friday, February 13 – Sunday, February 15, 2026
Where: Port Aransas & Aransas National Wildlife Refuge area

Highlights:

• Friday afternoon: Kick off with easy, rewarding birding on Mustang Island – shorebirds, gulls, terns, and maybe a few early spring migrants.
• Saturday morning: Explore the best hotspots around Corpus Christi (think goose fields loaded with Snow Geese, Ross’s Geese, Sandhill Cranes, and ducks galore).
• Saturday afternoon: The main event – our private chartered boat tour into the heart of Aransas NWR to see the Whooping Cranes up close, plus Spoonbills, herons, egrets, and whatever else the tide brings in.
• Sunday morning: One last relaxed birding session before we head home with full memory cards and life lists.

Cost: $390 per person (double occupancy) $490 single supplement (single occupancy price)
Included: Two nights at the comfortable Holiday Inn Express & Suites Port Aransas (right near the beach), the Whooping Crane boat tour (the highlight!), and expert guiding the whole weekend. Not included: Transportation to/from Port Aransas, meals, or incidentals (plenty of great casual seafood spots nearby!).
