Details
Tues. Jan 3, 2023 - Main Line and Wilmington Writers Groups - In person and online - Building your Platform through Podcasting with Matty Dalrymple, Indie Author and 7+ year podcast creator.
Writers to build their platforms, podcasting--as a host or as a guest--is one of the fastest growing, and for good reason. “Getting in someone’s head” through audio is one of the most intimate connections you can establish, and a well-planned and well-executed episode or guest appearance can help you build not only a community of listeners but also of fellow writers (not to mention the possibility, as a host, of earning some money). Matty Dalrymple, host of "The Indy Author Podcast," will share her learnings on how to use podcasting to grow your author platform. Based on her 5+ years and 150+ episodes of the podcast (and capitalizing on her love of the nautical metaphor for the writing craft and the publishing voyage), Matty will walk attendees through a “Captain’s Log” of considerations for optimizing your podcast experience, including:
· Why podcasting ... and why for authors?
· Determining your destination/goals (e.g., networking, paying it forward to the author community, learning, earning, etc.)
· Choosing your topic, format (e.g., solo, interview, panel, live or recorded), medium (audio only, audio and video), venue (virtual or in-person)
· Choosing your persona and brand
· Choosing the tech
· Preparing your space
· Finding great guests
· Being a great guest
Attendees can review material related to this topic at https://www.theindyauthor.com/podcasting-for-authors.html, including Matty's book The Indy Author's Guide to Podcasting for Authors: Creating Connections, Community, and Income, available direct from the author in ebook (https://payhip.com/b/AtHf) and AI-narrated audio (https://payhip.com/b/YkVsm) and in ebook and print on all major online retailers (https://books2read.com/Podcasting-for-Authors).

READ ALL OF THIS!
WE ARE BACK IN PERSON! Our meeting place is The Black Powder Tavern,164 Valley Forge Rd · Wayne, PA. The meeting officially starts at 7:00 pm but many of us come early (around 6:30 pm) to eat and socialize a bit - but you can order your meal at any time during the meeting. They are seating us in an area which should be good for creating a closeness and offer us some seclusion.
Just a reminder that you can order a meal at The Black Powder Tavern. We don't get charged for the great room, but they have the expectation that attendees will order a meal. It is a fair expectation and the meals are reasonably priced. To be clear: you are expected to order your meal that evening.
PLEASE READ
This is a membership based group. Annual dues are $60 and cover a variety of expenses including web site hosting, Meetup administration fees (you get the service free but I pay for them), the equipment, batteries, printing, guest speaker meals, etc. You are invited to alternately cover a single meeting for $10. If you decide to pay the annual dues that evening, your membership dues will cover that evening's meeting as well. Pay your membership in person at the meeting or your attendance fee IN ADVANCE through venmo (@Gary.Zenker) or paypal to garyzenker@gmail.com.
We are flexible. We have never set a limit on the number of interested writers who can attend. If you show up without RSVPing or RSVP at the last minute, there is almost always room for you. But please, if you know you won't be able to make it and have RSVP'd YES, please take the time to go in and change your RSVP status to NO. Likewise, try to get your RSVP in for yes as early as possible so I can prepare the restaurant. It helps us determine any changes needed in seating arrangements.
As usual, any questions, please contact me, Gary Zenker, at 610-883-2346 or MainLineWritersGroup@gmail.com. We are all looking forward to seeing you there.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW
Remember that buying your meal is a requirement for attending in person.
