Radical Belonging: Loving the Earth and One Another by Cheryl Lander

This interactive online gathering invites participants to explore the deep connections between care for the Earth and care for one another. Through short videos, guided reflection, and shared conversation, we will reflect on belonging, dignity, and justice in our communities. Together, we’ll consider how respect for nature, immigrants, LGBTQ+ people, and other marginalized communities grows from the same roots of compassion. This is not a lecture, but a reflective experience centered on listening, peace, and shared humanity. Participants will leave grounded, inspired, and connected to meaningful next steps.

BIO:

Cheryl Lander (she/her) grew up camping in the wild landscapes of Montana, sparking a lifelong connection to nature that remains her source of renewal and peace. A passionate advocate for social justice, she has supported causes including women’s and LGBTQ+ equality, animal rescue, and environmental protection.
By day she works in technology. Outside of work, she brings her project management skills and passion for people to a wide range of volunteer and nonprofit efforts. Her past leadership includes serving on the boards of EarthLight Magazine, C.A.R.E. (Companion Animal Rescue Effort), OWL, Oracle Women’s Leadership, and OPEN, the Oracle Pride Employee Network, as well as with the Pachamama Alliance South Bay facilitator’s group.

Today her volunteer energy is focused on Rotary. She is a charter member and past president of Silicon Valley Rainbow Rotary, an LGBTQ+-focused club, contributes to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work at the district level, helps organize events across the district, and is on the Board of the Rotary International LGBT+ Fellowship.
