SJ WILPF: Sharat Lin, activism in action
Details
Sharat Lin looks back and forward on a world undergoing momentous change. Some of the experiences of this modern-day explorer include civil war, revolution, military occupation, being in the world's most isolated country, experiencing one of the world's most inhospitable deserts, taking an epic religious pilgrimage, and living behind mud walls in an India village.
Sharat is an activist and organizer with the San Jose Center for Peace and Justice (SJPJC). He recently organized the MLK Day event at the MLK Library in San Jose. He expressed his passion for peace through the Dance of Peace at the Armistice Day events on November 11, Hiroshima-Nagasaki commemorations here and in Japan.
Sharat G. Lin is a political economist, natural scientist, artist, inventor, writer, activist, and healer. He received his PhD in medical physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and studied medicine at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. He pursued parallel tracks in medical science and political economy for most of his working life, authoring numerous academic papers and book chapters, and delivering close to a thousand lectures. His social and artistic activism has made a difference in unpredictable ways.
Join us for this retrospective journey through the experiences of one long time activist with a glimpse of what might be ahead.
Monthly virtual meeting related to issues of justice, freedom and peace sponsored by WILPF San Jose. The Raging Grannies open and close the meeting with song.
