This workshop will cover the following 72 topics:
- Who can benefit from using LinkedIn? HR People, Job Seekers, Business Owners, Level Execs, Directors/Managers/Supervisors, Line Professionals, Professors, and Students
- Understand the 3 Levels of Connections in LinkedIn and why Level 1 Connections are so important
- Learn how to get quality network connections using the 7 Touch Method of Networking
- Create a compelling profile with compelling content and that is loaded with your skills (keywords) to ensure your profile is found by other users
- Create a photo (head shot only and only you in photo)and a background image at the top of relates what you do (I get images from www.bing.com in the images section but there are lots of other image websites with FREE photos)
- Create a powerful Headline that has your job title (Cutting Edge Career Coach vs just Career Coach)), significant skills (keywords), and your 5-7 word brand in it that will help ensure your profile is found by others
- Define the 3 Types of Achievements:
a) A Measurable Achievement where you made of saved money for your company (including a case where you improved a process and saved time, where the savings in the time saved in hours X your hourly rate, frequency that process occurred, per year = savings) and you bold the measurable part of the achievement
b) An Award You Won where the part about the name and frequency of the award is bolded
c) A Recommendation you received from your manager, a director, a c-level exec, a customer, a supplier, etc., where the recommendation includes the recommender’s job title, his/her company name, and the actual quote inside quotation marks and the entire quote is bolded. - In the Resources section, turn on Creator Mode to view Analytics and create Profile Topics (up to 5) and access LinkedIn Live, Audio Event, Newsletters, Follow Link,
- Learn how to create an About section containing your personal brand and a related achievement
- Understand the value of the statistics in the Analytics section
- Learn how to use the optional Featured section to showcase your Work Samples
- Access all your Posts, Pictures, Videos, Events, Articles, etc.in this Activity section
- Learn how to add and view your work history to the Experience section
- In each job in the Experience section, put all the skills related to each job at the end of each job's description.
- Learn why you don't want to include graduation dates in the Education section
- Learn how to add all your skills (and common synonyms for them) to your Skills section
- Learn how to add optional sections to your profile (e.g. Courses section) using the Add Profile Section button under your Headline
- Learn how to customize your LinkedIn profile URL
- See how to both give and get recommendations from your level 1 connections and if you get one, you must accept it before it is posted to the Recommendations section (you can also request changes to a recommendation and then accept it)
- See how to Follow one of your Level 1 connections and how to Unfollow a connection when you no longer find their information useful
- Learn how to send Messages to one of your Level 1 connections or send a message to multiple people via one message
- Learn how to access LinkedIn Help to submit a trouble ticket and then follow the responses provided by the LinkedIn support team

- Use the LinkedIn Search Box to find information related to your search criteria and remember that the search produces 10 categories of results (People Company, Jobs, Posts, Schools, Courses, Events, Groups, Products, and Services)
- Learn how to use Boolean Searches to get the exact search results you want
- Building your network of 500+ Level 1 Connections selecting people to build up your number of connections or get VIP connections who can help you get a job and give you insider information about the company
- Use the My Network tool to get people to build up your number of connections based on the categories presented (e.g. People You May Know from the University of New Hampshire or People You May Know With Similar Roles)
- Use the Search Box to connect with-VIP Connections
- See how to create a Spanish version of your profile
- Use the Home tab to publish Photos, Videos, .Events, Articles, and Posts(with Events, you send out a personal invitation to people but must select each person one a time)
- Learn how to control where you show up in search results using by understanding how the LinkedIn Search Algorithm works, including having your Current Job in your profile which will ensure you will show up higher in HR, Recruiter, and Hiring Manager search results
