What we’re about
Do you believe in 'something'? Would you be interested in a group that's open to a range of beliefs, where you are encouraged in your own search for truth and meaning? Would you like to meet others in the same boat?
We aim to meet (probably) once a month for about an hour to provide a space for discussion, contemplation and support for one another. This is aimed especially at those who are 'spiritual but not religious'.
This is inspired by 'Spirituality at the Pub' events in Australia, the Unitarian and Quaker traditions of religion without creeds, and the idea of mindfulness.
Q&A:
Q: Is this group New Age?
A: New Age is a term with baggage. We welcome a range of beliefs, whether they might be labelled New Age or not. You do not have to adopt anyone else's beliefs and practices, only to be respectful of them.
Q: Is this a religious group?
A: Since this group deals with belief in something beyond the observable world, it is religious in one sense. However, it differs from how religion usually works, in being open to a range of beliefs.
Q: Can I join if I'm an atheist/Christian/etc.?
A: Yes. We encourage you to join if you believe you would gain something from it.
Q: Does this group believe...?
A: The answer to any such question is the same. We are open to a range of beliefs, so even once we move past the stage of starting up the group, we will agree to disagree on many things. All that we need to share is the ability and values for working together and supporting each other.
