Mudeford, Hengitsbury Head Circular Walk

Details
Let’s spend a day by the sea - to include a spectacular walk taking in Mudeford, Christchurch Harbour and Hengitsbury Head, beach/swimming time, followed by a meal and drinks.
The Beach at Hengitsbury Head has a south facing pebble beach, with imposing cliffs, as well as a sandy beach at the Mudeford spit, with colourful beach huts.
The nature reserve incorporates many different habitats and supports a wide variety of wildlife and rare plant species.
The circular walk of 12km/ 7.4 miles over mainly flat terrain takes us from Mudeford Quay through Stanpit Marsh Nature Reserve, we’ll stop for a short while at Christchurch Priory, then follow the path along the River Stour to Wick, continue along the riverside path to Tuckton and cross the river there. We’ll stop at Tuckton Tea Rooms for a while ( you may want to bring a packed lunch).
We’ll then follow the Stour Valley Way through the fields to Hengitsbury Head where we’ll climb the path to the top to take in the views (there is a flat route for the less energetic). The path then descends to Mudeford Spit with its beaches, sand dunes and beach huts.
We’ll spend an hour or so here, weather permitting. At approx 17:00 we’ll make our way to the Ferry which will take us back to Mudeford Quay where we’ll make our way to get some food and refreshment.
I would suggest car sharing and will go into more detail nearer the time in respect of this.
