Windsor Language and Cultural Exchange

If you are looking to test your skills in American Sign Language then Salon: ASL is for you. The purpose of the event is firstly, to offer a place for more fluent signers to use their language and hone their skills. Secondly, it offers a way to learn language skills fast in a respectful environment. Lastly, it helps build a connection with the deaf community.

Salon is a place to use language and talking about what's going on in the world all in ASL. It's best if you know ASL fluently, but if you can be silent and learn what you can, beginners are welcome too.

So here's how it works:
- We discuss and chat for an hour only in ASL *no talking or English allowed*. Writing is allowed.
- The last thirty minutes we dedicate to debriefing. If there was something you didn't understand this is the time where you can ask questions to clarify something.

Looking to practice your Spanish or English? Stamtish might be for you. This is not a formal conversation group, instead this a chance to mingle and use the Spanish or English you know. If you're a beginner check out the study group.

Stamtish is our social night. It's our European style hang-out. We drink beer and talk the night away. No you don't need to show up at the start. Drop in any time we're normally stay till late. On this night we are hosting Spanish or English.

Welcome to the study group.

This week we will be reviewing what we already learnt over the past month. I will post a link in the description, for anyone who may of missed the last two sessions, the materials that we used.

What to expect this session:

• We will be expected to say Hello, and greet each other, in FRENCH, when we first arrive at the library. Yes that means NO ENGLISH greetings or <>, while we are waiting in the lobby to begin. Feel free to use Coo Coo were all friends here.
• We will be practice our written FRENCH by making sentences with the words we already learnt and practice saying them. If anyone wants to put some sentences together before the event; that would be some great practice.
• We will go over numbers (1-10000 and simple math +, -, =) and spelling (names of accents, and les autres trucs) as a review. This week we will be practicing speaking large numbers especially dates (ie 1996, 2025).
• Practice our French reading skills.
• We say goodbye and other farewells in FRENCH.
