About us

Welcome to our Meetup Group

This is a space for anyone who loves being on (or near) the water — whether that means sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, or just hanging out with great people by the lake.

Our goal is simple: to bring together a community of like-minded people who enjoy sharing time outdoors, discovering new spots, and making the most of every breeze and sunny day.

What We Do
During the warmer months, we organise relaxed social sailing evenings, windsurfing meetups, and SUP sessions where everyone’s welcome — from total beginners to experienced riders.

We also enjoy spontaneous lake days, barbecues by the water, and the occasional weekend getaway to explore new places or chase the wind a little farther afield.
It’s all about connection, fun, and getting people out on the water together.

Get Involved
We’re always looking for friendly people who’d like to help our community grow — whether that’s leading a casual SUP morning, helping organize a sailing meetup, or just spreading the word. You don’t need to be an expert, just enthusiastic and safety-minded.

If you’ve ever thought “I wish there were more people to paddle/sail/windsurf with”, this is exactly the place for you!

Beyond the Meetups
For those who want to take things a bit further, we also offer beginner and improver courses, coaching, equipment rentals, and trips to some of the best water spots in Switzerland and beyond.

Community members also get discounts on gear and personalised advice if you’re looking to buy or try new equipment.

Stay Connected
We’d love for you to be part of the conversation — share ideas, invite others, and help us build this community together.

Join our WhatsApp group for the latest meetups, impromptu lake days, and general water-loving chatter.

***

We can’t wait to meet you — on the water, on the shore, or over a drink after a great session. Come join us and be part of the adventure!

Kind regards,
Dave

Skipper Confidence Building Week - Sailing Coaching in Croatia

Skipper Confidence Building Week - Sailing Coaching in Croatia

Marina Frapa, Uvala Soline 1, Rogoznica, HR

Sign-up for this event will be available on our website (link here) from midnight on the 1st of April 2026.

    Join our WhatsApp Group here.

You’ve earned your skipper certification — now it’s time to use it with confidence!

This hands-on coaching week in Croatia is designed for sailors who hold a qualification such as Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper, SKS, or the Swiss “Hochseeschein”, but would like real-world experience before chartering a yacht on their own.

Under the guidance of an experienced sailing coach, you’ll take command of a yacht for a week, learn how to handle every aspect of a sailing trip, and gain the confidence to skipper your own charter in the future.

    What to Expect
    Saturday – Arrival & Check-In
Meet at the charter base in the afternoon, where your coach will have already taken delivery of our yacht (often All Winds, a Beneteau Oceanis 41.1). Together we’ll go through the full check-in procedure, so you’ll know exactly what to expect when chartering in future. After a safety briefing, we’ll settle in, discuss the week ahead, and plan our first day on the water.

    Sunday – Familiarisation Sail
A relaxed day to get to know the boat and crew. We’ll do a warm-up sail, practice manoeuvres, and review the boat’s systems so everyone feels at home onboard.

Monday to Wednesday – Take the Helm
Each participant will take full command of the yacht for a day — planning the route, leading the crew, handling departures, sails, navigation, and mooring. Your coach will be nearby for personalised feedback and coaching throughout.

    Thursday – Flex Day
Reserved for weather delays or additional coaching time.

Friday – Skills Consolidation & Debrief
We’ll revisit any topics that need more practice, return to the base, and complete a typical charter check-out. The week ends with a friendly group debrief before departures on Saturday morning.

An Online Workshop for Windsports Lovers
Registration for this event can be
    found on our website:
The link to the registration will be sent once your position is confirmed.

If you want to know exactly how to use weather apps for sailing effectively, this workshop is for you.
Ever heard someone at the marina or the beach exclaim, “The app was completely wrong today!”? Weather apps aren’t broken—they are powerful computational engines that are frequently misunderstood. In this interactive online session, we demystify how digital weather models process atmospheric data, why forecast screens seem to fail near coastlines and mountains, and how to combine traditional seamanship with screen data to make confident, safe calls on the water.
Whether you sail on Lake Zug, windsurf, or plan offshore charters, this workshop will give you a clear framework for reading weather data without getting overwhelmed by screens.

    What We Will Cover
    1. How We Used to Forecast (And Why It Still Matters)

    • The fundamentals of synoptic meteorology: high/low-pressure systems, cold/warm fronts, and isobar gradients.
    • Reading synoptic weather charts before screens existed—and why tracking barometric pressure trends onboard remains your ultimate real-time early warning system.

    2. Inside the Digital Weather App

    • What apps like Windy actually display vs. what people think they display.
    • Understanding the difference between sustained ground wind (a 10-minute averaged mathematical vector 10m above water) and peak gusts (3-second localised spikes).
    • The 3 Workflows: How my weather routing changes completely depending on where we are sailing:
    • Lake Zug: Why global apps struggle with our local topography and how to read the Bise and Föhn.
    • The Mediterranean: Tracking convective squalls, sea breezes, and reading the warning signs of a Bora or Jugo.
    • The Atlantic: How we rely on synoptic fronts and larger weather systems.

    3. Global vs. Regional Models (The Resolution Problem)

    • Global Models (ECMWF, GFS): Broad grid squares that smooth out islands, headlands, and mountain passes.
    • Regional High-Res Models (ICON-EU, AROME): Tight grids that capture coastal terrain compression and localised convective activity.
    • How model divergence (when ECMWF and GFS disagree) highlights atmospheric instability.

    4. Why “The App is Always Wrong” (And How to Fix Your Setup)

    • Terrain Acceleration: How steep hills and narrows double the wind speed shown on a global grid model.
    • The CAPE Factor: Why flat, quiet forecast screens can hide explosive thunderstorm potential. For a deep dive on coastal squalls, read our guide on Surviving the Dalmatian Nevera [link].
    • Setting up custom screens in tools like Windy or MeteoSwiss to cross-reference multiple models simultaneously. Check out our breakdown on Weather Apps for Sailing [link] for background reading before the event.

    ## Harbour Manoeuvres Demystified

Registration for this event is on our website:

The link to attend will be sent with the confirmation email after sign-up.

Docking a sailboat is often treated like black magic—or worse, a nerve-wracking spectator sport for everyone sitting on the marina terrace. In reality, it’s simply parking. Just like parking a car, it doesn’t require fear, high-stakes tension, or shouting from the deck; it just takes a basic understanding of momentum, wind leverage, and a solid plan.
At All Winds Adventures, we believe that confidence in tight harbours begins long before you reach the pontoon. Real spatial awareness is built out on open water first—getting a feel for how a boat glides, turns, and reacts to wind at low speeds without the threat of concrete walls. Once you understand those dynamics out on the water, bringing a boat alongside in a harbour becomes a calm, predictable process.
In this online workshop, we strip away the drama and break down low-speed boat handling through plain physics, practical logic, and relaxed seamanship.

    What We Will Cover

    • The “Parking” Mindset: Why docking isn’t black magic, and how building momentum awareness on open water makes tight marina berthing straightforward. (Read our background piece on Why Boat Control Starts at Sea for the core philosophy).
    • Vector Physics Made Simple: How prop walk, prop wash, windage, and pivot points interact when speed drops to zero—and how to make them work for you instead of fighting them.
    • Using the Elements as Helpers: Turning wind and current into natural brakes to hold the boat in place rather than treats to be feared.
    • The Escape Route Principle: How to approach every berth with a built-in abort plan so panic never enters the equation.
    • The Midship Cleat Magic: Why a single short midship spring line solves 90% of short-handed or tricky mooring situations.
