đ· Itâs Back! Tuesdays on the Terrace at the MCA đ¶
Join us for one of Chicagoâs best summertime eventsâTuesdays on the Terrace at the Museum of Contemporary Art! Enjoy live, free jazz in the museumâs stunning sculpture garden, along with free admission to the MCA every Tuesday evening. Live jazz, warm summer nights, and free admissionâitâs one of our favorite Chicago traditions!
Weâve attended in past summers and itâs always a highlightâgreat music, a relaxed vibe, and a perfect way to spend a warm weekday evening in the city. Bring a blanket or grab a seat, and soak in the sounds of Chicagoâs incredible jazz scene under the skyline.
Admission: Free | Time: Tuesday evenings | Location: MCA Chicago
Note, there are 2 registrations! 1 for free museum entry & 1 for fast pass (no line) for outdoor live music in the sculpture garden
Letâs make it a tradition again!
Please note that this is the opening night for live music, so all the fast passes are already gone. However, we can still attend as walk-ins. I believe this concert will be held indoors at the Edlis Neeson Theater for this special season opener. Since it's indoors, I think we will be fine without a Fast Pass for entry.
Tuesdays on the Terrace are free for all visitors. Museum admission is always free on Tuesday evenings for Illinois residents; we can also view the current exhibition "Paul Pfeiffer: Prologue to the Story of the Birth of Freedom" for free by visiting the museum and reserving tickets for day-of entry. **PICK TUES 6/24 & CHECK CHICAGO/IL RESIDENT AFTER 5 pm FOR NO CHARGE: https://experience.mcachicago.org/6435/6488**

Important: You must register separately for both Museum Admission and Tuesdays on the Terrace!
If youâre only attending the jazz concert and donât plan to enter the MCA, you just need the Terrace Fast Passâthis lets you enter directly through the back garden gate.
đïž Fast Passes go quickly, so we recommend grabbing yours ASAP!
We love getting them so we can arrive early and snag a table on the terrace.
âïž No Fast Pass? No problem! Walk-ins are welcome on the day of the event (first come, first served).
Thereâs also a grassy area, so feel free to bring a blanket or your own chair for a laid-back picnic vibe.
Seating is general admission, first come, first served. Your RSVP does not guarantee a seat or table on the terrace. They recommend bringing a lawn chair or picnic blanket for seating on the lawn. MCA seats go fast, so if you cannot arrive early, then bring a chair or blanket!
Performances occur every Tuesday, JuneâSeptember, from 5:30â8 pm, in the Anne & John Kern Terrace Garden & hosted by Al Carter-Bey, from WDCB 90.9 FM, with Richton Guy Thomas, from WHPK 88.5 FM.

The MCA is an innovative and compelling center of contemporary art where the public can experience the work and ideas of living artists, and understand the historical, social, and cultural context of the art of our time. Founded in 1967 as a Kunsthalle, or noncollecting art gallery, the MCA is now one of the worldâs largest museums dedicated to art. Since their inception, it has been their mission to exhibit new and experimental work in all media. In 1974, the MCA expanded their mission to include collecting and preserving contemporary art for future generations with the inauguration of a permanent collection that has grown to include more than 2,000 works. After 29 years in a storefront on Ontario Street, the museum moved to their current location in 1996, giving their collection, exhibitions, and programming room to evolve to meet the needs of 21st-century art.
