🌳 ABOUT RAVENSWOOD MANOR
Ravenswood Manor is one of Chicago's most distinctive and lovingly preserved neighborhoods — tucked along the North Branch of the Chicago River on the northwest side, bounded by Lawrence Ave to the north, Montrose Ave to the south, the Chicago River to the east, and Sacramento Ave to the west.

The neighborhood's story begins in 1909, when developer William E. Harmon began selling lots for his "Ravenswood Manor" subdivision — a planned 60-acre community he called a "suburb beautiful." Harmon built 15 model homes, instituted deed restrictions to ensure quality, and even maintained a parkway improvement fund for flowers, tree trimming, and snow removal.

By 1914, residents had grown organized enough to form what would become the Ravenswood Manor Improvement Association (RMIA) — one of Chicago's oldest neighborhood organizations, founded to maintain the neighborhood's distinctive park-like character. The RMIA has been going strong ever since, hosting beloved annual traditions including the Easter egg hunt, garage sale, garden walk, bike parade, and winter social.

As the RMIA puts it best: "This unique neighborhood is more than a collection of distinctive houses. It is a community of people, which relies upon the neighborly spirit of its residents." 🏡🌿
