๐ WHY OLD TOWN?
Old Town is one of those Chicago neighborhoods where you can turn a corner and suddenly feel like you've stepped into another era entirely.
Originally settled by German immigrants in the 1850s, the neighborhood is filled with layers of Chicago history. Parts survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 โ making some of these streets among the oldest intact residential blocks in the city. Later generations added churches, artists' communities, entertainment venues, and some seriously interesting architecture that most visitors never find.
From St. Michael's Catholic Church โ one of the few buildings to survive the Great Fire โ to Crilly Court's beautifully preserved Victorian streetscape, from the artists' studios of Edgar Miller and Sol Kogen to the legendary stage of The Second City, there's a story around nearly every corner in Old Town. And in October? The tree-lined streets and fall colors make it one of the best times of year to explore. ๐๐๏ธ

๐ WHY PRINTERโS ROW?
Printerโs Row is one of Chicagoโs great historic districts โ a neighborhood shaped by the cityโs explosive growth, architectural innovation and its role as a national center for printing, publishing and transportation.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, printers, publishers, typesetters, paper dealers and related businesses filled the blocks south of the Loop.
The buildings they left behind give Printerโs Row its distinctive character: tall brick faรงades, enormous windows, industrial details and some of Chicagoโs earliest skyscraper architecture.
Today, Printerโs Row remains a special place for readers, writers, architecture lovers and anyone who appreciates a great Chicago street story. ๐๐๏ธ

๐ WHY LINCOLN PARK?
Lincoln Park is one of Chicago's most historic and beloved lakefront destinations. Originally established as a cemetery, it gradually became a sprawling public landscape filled with gardens, museums, historic buildings, lagoons, monuments, and recreational spaces that Chicagoans have treasured for generations.
At the heart of it all โ Lincoln Park Zoo, one of the oldest zoological institutions in North America and one of the last remaining free zoos in the United States. The zoo began in 1868 with a gift of two swans to the Lincoln Park Commissioners โ and from that humble beginning grew into a world-class institution now focused on wildlife conservation, animal care, education, and connecting Chicagoans with nature. ๐ฆข๐ฆ
During the walk we'll explore the zoo's fascinating evolution โ from early animal displays to modern habitats โ while uncovering the architectural history, park landscapes, memorials, and hidden stories that make Lincoln Park one of Chicago's most rewarding outdoor destinations.
