What we’re about
Windy City Skaters is a group open to anyone who likes to move around on wheels. While most of us are on inline skates (rollerblades) we also welcome skateboarders and long boarders.
Chicago has tons of cool places to skate. If you haven't discovered them yet you will with this group. Windy City Skaters is a diverse group of friendly, fun loving people. This group has been going strong since 2008 and keeps getting bigger every season.
Some of the things we have done during the past few seasons are:
Organized inline street skates (themed city tours)
Inline freestyle slalom practice at the lakefront
Critical Mass on Inline skates, longboards and bikes
Inline Marathons and the American Cancer Society Walk and Roll event
Beginner lessons
Skating workshops
We are open for any ideas that bring people together to socialize while skating. We hope to see you out there, no matter what your skill level is, we'd love to have you.

- Skate & SUP 🛼🏄🏻♀️ Now on 6/29Belmont Harbor, Chicago, IL$40.00
Join us for this special event in collaboration with Chicago SUP. We are combining skating and Stand-up Paddleboarding!
We will meet at our usual spot at Belmont Harbor at 5:30 pm (see map under photos). From there we will skate to North Ave Beach.
We will take off our skates and get on the water. No previous paddleboarding skills required. I (Kirsten) am an instructor at Chicago SUP.
We will get a highly discounted rate for this sunset paddle. Board, paddle, and life vest are included for $40.
**Note: you must registers for the paddle portion separately here and spots are limited:
https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=12101297&appointmentType=66559593After about an hour of paddling we will skate back to Belmont so for those who drive it will be best to park there. We plan a stop for a drink at Shore club on the way back!
Hope you can join us!
What to bring for Paddleboarding:
- Towel
- Change of clothes (trust me, you will fall in or want to jump in)
- Hydration
Do not bring any keys, phones, etc. on the water. We will have lockers to store them.
If you have a waterproof, floating case for your phone, that’s fine. Sunglasses/glasses need to be secured with an eyewear retainer strap (you don’t want to lose them and we don’t need more plastic in the lake).
I will have my GoPro and take lots of photos/videos.
Lastly, needless to say but you need to be able to swim even though we provide life vests.
Let’s have some fun on the water!
