Details
Please note: You must arrive before 4:30 PM to enjoy the wine tasting. It would be great to see a number of you including our recently new members.
This afternoon, we'll be joining South Bay's Passion for Wine at the WineShoppe in Torrance as Markus Niggli from Markus Wine Co in Lodi, CA will be pouring a great selection of wines. The WineShoppe in Torrance is a boutique shop specializing in unique and hard to find wines from around the world.
On a bittersweet note, Mike & Marla McCraley, owners of the WineShoppe have decided to retire after 20 years. The last day for the WineShoppe will be July 31st. Today will be their last wine tasting. It would be great to have you join us to wish Mike & Marla well
Founded in 2014, Markus Wine Co. was launched. Swiss-born winemaker and owner Markus Niggli selects from wisely planted ancient vines and newly planted unusual offerings throughout the Lodi region to craft small-production bottlings in their warehouse winery located in Victor, California, 3 miles east of Lodi. The wines produced are ageless and memorable – to drink young or with a decade or more of age and still be elegant. Markus Wine Co wines are fruit-driven yet balanced with higher acidity than you find in many wines, and with soft, integrated tannins, to be enjoyed with meals. The Markus team believes that the real winemaking happens out in the vineyard and allow the vineyard and the wine grapes show their full expression in your glass.
Their varietals include Carignane, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Blush-Rose, Gewurztraminer and unique varietals - single source and blends.
There will 6 varietals poured this afternoon. The posting will be updated once the wines to be poured is finalized. There will be no food provided, so you are able to bring snacks to the tasting.
I am a wine club member, so please let the WineShoppe know that you are with the group for the wine club member fee of $15 each for the wine tasting (reg. $20).
Be sure to check out the selection of wines at the WineShoppe to purchase a bottle or two for your upcoming summer activities including the 6 for $66 ($11/bottle - some great choices of wines there as well).
There is plenty of free parking. The wine tasting ends at 5 PM. There are many restaurants nearby to continue your evening. Look forward to seeing you there.
