Malick Series: Second of Four: Days of Heaven; Tip Top Tasting

Photographed by one of my most revered cinematographers Nestor Almendros, winning him an Oscar (first from a Spaniard), Days of Heaven shines as a compositional masterpiece. Shot almost exclusively during the 'magic hour' with a riveting backstory, Malick weaves visual storytelling to set an exquisite mood and tone that is undeniably his own. Keeping with momentum from Badlands, a la elliptical voice over narration from a female character (fascinating how this came to be post production) compels the composition forward.

I am excited for Tip Top Wine Shop to be hosting us again. We will lean into the Wine more as Lauren from Tip Top and I curate a tasting to accompany our discussion. We taste together, snack, and discuss. As we solidify the flight, I will post some of their stories.

Days of Heaven will be projected while we discuss.
