Howdy, all! I hope this finds you well. As you know the holiday season is upon us and it gets me thinking about how fortunate I've been to meet you all and be a part of this group. It also reminds me that some folks aren't as fortunate as others. With that in mind, I've decided to show my gratitude by feeding families in need with a Thanksgiving dinner. This is a project I started 22 years ago and I did it for 13 years. I'd like to start it up again this year. I started in 2003 by feeding 5 families and with the help of my co-workers and family over the years, we fed as many as 105 families the last year we did it. Now, my goal is to feed at least 25 families this Thanksgiving. I have 6 boxes of groceries pledged so far and thanks to a very generous donation from a guest at our Meetup yesterday, I will be able to get 2 more families fed. If you would like to join us in this wonderful project, please feel free to build a box of groceries that will feed a family of 4 to 6 people and meet us at the bridge at Memorial Park on Saturday Nov 22nd at 12 pm. to donate your box to a family in need. Below is a list of items I put in my boxes, but you are more than welcome to use your imagination and make your box anyway you'd like. There are no rules here. I'll be reaching out to some churches and other locations to find the families. We'll advise them to meet us at the park to pick up their box of food on the 22nd. We could do a simple lunch afterwards if you'd like. If you don't have the time to shop and would like me to the build the box(es) for you, I'd be happy to. I did some pricing and found that 1 box would be about $40.00 to $50.00 to fill for at least 4 people. I can take your donation via cash, zelle or cashapp by Nov 20th. If you have questions, reach out to me at 209-401-0064 by text and I'll be happy to answer them. Thanks in advance and hope to see you there.
