Clos du Caillou is a prestigious Southern Rhone estate celebrated for its elegant and focused wines that perfectly bridge tradition and modern finesse. Located in the northeastern part of Châteauneuf du Pape, the winery is famous for its unique history; because the original owners chased off government surveyors with guns in 1936, a significant portion of its prime land was excluded from the official appellation and is instead classified as Cotes du Rhone. This "clos" (walled vineyard) features the same exceptional sandy soils and "galets roules" (river stones) found in top tier Châteauneuf du Pape, resulting in Cotes du Rhone wines that offer world-class depth and complexity for very drinkable prices compared to their CDP counterparts.
