In our next session, we will explore less popular varietals. Below are the top ten wines listed in order by US sales volume. Your mission (should you accept it) is to bring a wine made from grapes which are NOT one of these ten. Let’s have some fun tasting some out-of-the-ordinary choices!
- Chardonnay
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris
- Pinot Noir
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Merlot
- Zinfandel, red or white
- Malbec
- Reisling
- Syrah/Shiraz
Our process will be the same as usual: Everyone will take a turn presenting their selection and providing some background infomation about it. (Some research may be required.)
We will all then share, taste and critique each bottle.
I will provide some tasting glasses but if you have some of your own, bring them along.
If you want to bring some other food items to accompany your presentation, they would be welcome also.
I have reserved a large outdoor table for us on the recreation deck of my condo building in Kakaako. (Access details will be sent on the day before the event to those who RSVP.
Because of space restrictions, we can only accommodate about a dozen people for this event.
