For this month’s session, we will continue our exploration of the less-loved varietals. Some of these less popular wines have quite specific aroma and taste characteristics that make them identifiable with some practice. So, each attendee is invited to select an uncommon wine that people should be able to recognize in a blind tasting by its’ distinct effects on the nose and palate. Some suggestions to consider; For whites: Viognier, Gewurztraminer, Muscat and for reds: Syrah/Shiraz, Carmenere, Beaujolais. Bring whatever less popular wine that you think people should be able to guess but just remember, “If anybody brings Merlot, I’m leaving” LOL.
Our process will be the same as usual: Everyone will take a turn presenting their selection and providing some background infomation about it. (Some research may be required.)
We will all then share, taste and critique each bottle.
I will provide some tasting glasses but if you have some of your own, bring them along.
If you want to bring some other food items to accompany your presentation, they would be welcome also.
I have reserved a large outdoor table for us on the recreation deck of my condo building in Kakaako. (Access details will be sent on the day before the event to those who RSVP.
Because of space restrictions, we can only accommodate about a dozen people for this event.
If you’re certain you will attend, please sign up soon so we can get a count of how many people to expect.
Hope to see you there,
Bob
