Texas Tannat Tasting with Bending Branch Winery

Details

Happy New Year! I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy. In order to prevent Omnicron and to keep all of us healthy, we are going to have a virtual tasting in February. I am pleased to announce that we will have a rare opportunity to taste 5 Texas Tannats from different vineyards as we welcome Dr. Bob Young from Bending Branch Winery. Bending Branch is the Texas home of the grape known as Tannat, and the winery excels at this varietal year after year. What is Tannat? It is a grape which produces a bold dark red wine, which may be one of the grape varieties suited to our Texas climate. All you cabernet drinkers out there, it is now time to try something different. And, if you don't drink Cabernet, here is a chance to step over to the "dark side" of wine.

On Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm, Dr. Young will help us to learn about Tannat and the science behind it while we taste the following 5 wines:

2021 Tannat Frizzante Rosé ($25 retail)

2016 Tannat CM, Tallent Vineyards ($50 retail)

2018 Tannat, Tallent Vineyards ($55 retail)

2018 Tannat, Newsom Vineyards ($50 retail)

2018 Tannat, Lost Pirogue Vineyards ($65 retail)

A tasting pack of the 5 bottles of wine is available for $197 plus shipping by calling Jennifer Cernosek at 830-995-5850 at Bending Branch Winery. Invite your friends to share costs. If you are in the Dallas Fort Worth area, we can combine orders on a case to get free shipping. We are getting a 20% discount. This is a virtual tasting, so let me know if you are attending and I will send you the link. See you on Zoom! Elizabeth Lutton, DFW Chapter Chair, Wine Society of Texas, ealutton@hotmail.com.
